Sky Samples
A long-held fascination with the sky drives this series of work. In some ways, the sky is an omnipresent artwork without ownership and universally accessible to all. Moreover, without reference to the sky, we are unable to perceive and envisage the world. Through this work, I explore the sublime ephemeral quality of light that occurs around the sun’s rising and setting. By deconstructing the traditional gaze of the landscape artist and removing any object or image, we can avoid associative, symbolic thought. All that is left to consider is colour and luminosity. Each artwork collapses time, allowing us to examine the temporality of the nuanced shifts in hue and intensity of light.
